The Australian Open, NRL Magic Round, AFL and NRL Grand Finals, and Bathurst 1000 have emerged as the favorites among business travelers, attracting a diverse mix of professionals to these sporting extravaganzas.
When it comes to corporate interest, the Australian Open in Melbourne takes the lead, drawing 46 per cent more business travelers compared to the other events combined. This establishes Melbourne as the go-to destination in 2025 for corporate sports enthusiasts seeking a blend of sporting action and networking opportunities.

Corporate Traveller’s Global Managing Director, Tom Walley, highlights the unique networking opportunities that major sporting events offer to businesses. Shorter events such as the NRL Magic Round and Bathurst 1000 are also gaining popularity for their condensed networking potential.
Major sporting events bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering informal networking and relationship-building opportunities for businesses. Walley notes that music concerts featuring global icons like Kylie Minogue, Billie Eilish, and Metallica are also becoming key platforms for face-to-face interactions and relationship building in the corporate world.
As the corporate world increasingly recognizes the value of blending business with pleasure, sporting events have emerged as ideal settings for professionals to network, forge new connections, and strengthen existing relationships. With a mix of thrilling sports action and networking opportunities, these events are redefining the corporate travel landscape in Australia, offering a unique platform for businesses to engage with stakeholders and peers in a dynamic and vibrant environment.
